Eventually

This is a song I wrote a couple of years back and recorded while in Alaska. It's fairly simple, and was inspired by my grandmother...not directly, but close enough that it'd probably break my heart a little if she ever heard or saw this. One of those painful truths that are best not slammed into people's faces.

She's at home most any night
Just her and her TV
Hollow voices, black and white
Keep her more at ease.
It's been years since she lost her man.
He's with her every day.
She knows that someday they'll meet again
And dance...eventually

She gets calls on Christmas Eve
That she just holds onto.
She says, "How's my grandson? And the little one?
Yes, I miss you too."
She says goodbye, and she hangs a tear
Upon her Christmas tree.
"We'll come by!" they say, every year...
At least, eventually

Snow is falling, family's calling
But it just rings and rings.
She won't answer, she's gone dancing with him
Where the angels sing.
She had faith it would all work out,
That time would set her free,
And she'd become someone's memory,
And fade, eventually...

Very nice. Any form of writing is always creative and it is always interesting to see how a person is inspired to write something, and why. Writing journals and poetry helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. I don't write nearly as much as I used to.
